The courses for teenagers (gymnasium and lyceum)
● From October to June
● Classes twice a week, two lessons per class
● A minimum of 124 lessons
● 7-12 students in a group
For teenagers we offer classes in two age groups – gymnasium and lyceum. This allows us to effectively match the teaching programme with age needs, intellectual ability and last but not least – the diversity of topics of interest to younger and older teenagers. The teaching programmes in teenagers’ groups and the materials used in the classroom are of the highest pedagogical standards, and topics and related vocabulary are carefully tuned to the needs and interests of teenagers. With the International House method, the emphasis is firmly placed on the practical use of the language, and with this in mind, classroom activities are designed to replicate real life contexts and tasks as closely as possible. Thanks to this, English language learning at International House is not centred on boring abstract theory, but on practical life skills and an engaging journey of discovery.
At the end of each academic year, all students receive a certificate and an individual teacher’s report evaluating the student’s progress throughout the year; additional suggestions are also made for areas of future development in the language.

The level system at IH guarantees continuity of study through consecutive levels in a variety of age groups.
General English courses are run at IH initially at five consecutive levels. This means that starting at level 1, a student can progress through to level 5. On successful completion of level 5, and subject to a teacher’s recommendation, then students can continue their education at exam levels. Gymnasium students are offered courses to prepare for FCE, whereas lyceum students are offered both FCE and CAE exam courses. We also offer courses preparing for the Polish state school MATURA exam. Detailed information on these courses can be found in the dedicated section on Exam preparation courses.
For parents of our young students we offer the option of regular monitoring of course progress by using the ON_LINE RECEPTION facility - and for gymnasium students also by individual consultations with a teacher during Parent-teacher meetings. |
